Jean-Francois Dufour was born in Montreal and has since lived in Ottawa, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Maine, and Calgary and now resides in Edmonton. In his 15th year as a coach and personal trainer he has worn many hats and worked with an array of populations.
After spending two years as an artilleryman with the Canadian Reserves and completing a 3yr business management diploma from Algonquin College in Ottawa, he continued his quest for higher learning by moving the U.S. He went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors degree in Science -Exercise Physiology from the University of Southern Maine completing an undergraduate thesis and taking part in the training of NCAA teams and athletes. After leaving Maine, Jean-Francois came to Alberta where he completed a Masters Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary focusing research on power, anaerobic work and muscle properties. Jean-Francois has worked with extensive population of elite athletes in both private settings as well as the Olympic Oval in Calgary. In 2007 he was the Strength & Conditioning Coach of the Men’s National Water Polo team.
Jean-Francois is a Certified Exercise Physiologist and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA. He continues working with combat based as well as youth to pro athletes of various sports. Jean-Francois has also worked with the Calgary Police Service instructing recruits, performing in-service fitness testing and helping police service members prepare and maintain adequate job specific physical readiness. He also worked with the Calgary Fire Dept. as an instructor and consultant conducting physiological testing and working with firefighters in many capacities. Jean-Francois is the founder of A New Level Strength & Conditioning and proud partner at Legends Family Training Centre.
